The Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase first caught our eye thanks to its handsome and restrained design. The applied hour makers, the willow-shaped hour and minute hands made of nickel, and the tasteful moonphase and date application all come together seamlessly to make a strong impression and create a look that bats way above its retail price. Adding to that feeling is the slender 42mm polished case that holds the FC-705 manufacture caliber, which is visible through a sapphire case back.
In keeping with the "less is more" theme, the Slimline Moonphase is set and operated entirely through the onion crown. We suspect that the bold crown, along with the 3 and 9 o'clock hour markers intruding a touch too far into the dial, might be a little much for some people. On the wrist, this is a fake watch that will slide under any cuff with no problem, though 42mm may push the boundary of your formal attire sensibilities.
Of course we would be remiss not to mention that the Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Manufacture does look an awful lot like the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Moonphase 39mm. We're big fans of the Jaeger, so this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just worth pointing out.
